Rates and Coverage

The counselling services your are embarking on include the time and expertise of a registered clinical counsellor as well as the necessary preparation time, record keeping and resources material that are provided.

Our rates are consistent with the fee schedule set to by the BCACC (British Columbia Association ofRegistered Clinical Counsellors). However, my rates are lower in order to accommodate a wider range of socio-economic clients. At times we will consider exceptions and pro-rate according to an individual’s established economic conditions.

60 minute Individual counselling appointments – $160.00

60 minute Couples counselling appointments – $200.00

90 minute Individual counselling appointments – $225.00

Fees may be paid by cheque or cash at the time of each appointment. In addition, fees are charged for reports, letters, and NSF cheques. You will receive an official receipt at the time of your payment with my registered number. This receipt can be submitted for reimbursement as many companies extended health plans benefits programs will cover you to see a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

24 Hour Cancellation Policy

Our policy reflects the need for clients to consider the reserved time allotted exclusively for them and is consistent with the industry standards. This allows more efficient use of office time and opens up opportunities for other clients needing appointments.

The cancellation fee is therefore charged at the regular session rate and the same for missed or rescheduled appointments. The exception is for emergencies only. Emergencies are serious unavoidable situations. As an example have to work late does not qualify. Cancellations, or rescheduling must be done by calling your counsellor directly 24 hours prior to the session time. Please do not email, fax, or text to cancel an appointment. Thank for your understanding.

Benefit Coverage

Will my Insurance/ Company cover my counselling costs?

Many companies offer extended health insurance which may and often do include counselling services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor. You will be able to use these benefits to cover all or part of the costs of your counselling.

It is a good idea to check with you HR or department or your insurance company as to the dollar limit amount that you will be covered for a given year. Plans may vary as well as the dollar amount.

Most plans provide coverage for either a Registered Clinical Counsellor or a Registered Psychologist. I will provide an official receipt that may then be submitted for reimbursement from your insurance company.

What if I don’t have coverage to see a Registered Clinical Counsellor?

Your insurance plan may not have coverage to see a Registered Clinical Counselor. You my wish to speak with to your Human Resources Department and ask them to make a modification to the company extended benefits to include the services of a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

This change can be done at not extra cost to the employer and will broaden the pool of professional counsellor available to their employees. It may also be beneficial to craft a letter to you Human Resources department making the request to alter their benefit package.
