What is Individual Relationship Counselling?
Individuals have the capacity to heal themselves and enhance their relationships. My approach is tailored to focusing on the uniqueness of the individual.
Creating and maintaining a happy and kind relationship with yourself is a necessary first step in developing loving relationships with others. How can this be achieved? By exposing non-productive beliefs, identifying repetitive thinking cycles, and raising awareness to the behaviour patterns that reinforce these beliefs and identification of your “emotional charge” accompanying these cycles. Reactions such as fear, emptiness, betrayal, and anger can be addressed once the identified emotional charge is lowered. A natural shift takes place and many clients report a major sense of relief, a feeling of lightness, an ability to become unstuck, a dissipation of negative thinking, and the courage to move ahead. They begin to like themselves more.
Relapses can be a common occurrence in therapy, however, my experience is that when the emotional charge is reduced it is less likely that a person will revert to their old coping style.
